About SkaldIQ

What is SkaldIQ?

SkaldIQ is one connected suite for quality, fabrication and weld management. It brings the weld log and weld map, welder and NDT qualifications, standards, controlled procedures, client approval and signing, and a Quality File (your data book, or MRB) into one record, so a detail is entered once and used everywhere.

Who is it for?

Teams that weld, fabricate and inspect in regulated work: welding coordinators, quality managers and project managers. A client's QA representative can follow their own project through a read-only portal and answer documents sent to them for approval.

What is the Quality File?

The Quality File is your data book (MRB). It is collated and generated automatically from records already reviewed and approved through the project, and delivered as one indexed PDF with contents, bookmarks and continuous page numbers. A check before issue names anything still waiting for review or approval.

Does SkaldIQ certify my work or my company?

No. SkaldIQ helps you evidence what a standard or contract asks for. It does not certify your work. The code edition in force, your contract and your own quality system decide what is required.

What is not in the product yet?

Three items are marked coming soon: internal audits, WPS and PQR generation, and WPQ creation. The Products page lists everything else.

Getting started

How do I get started?

Request a demo on the Contact page. Tell us what you would like to see and we will set up a demo around it. A person replies, usually the same day.

Industries and codes

Which industries is SkaldIQ for?

Pressure equipment, structural steel, oil and gas, marine and shipbuilding, energy and renewables, general fabrication, and any other regulated environment. These are examples, not limits.

Which standards and codes does it work to?

SkaldIQ is not tied to one code. It works with whichever standard your contract names. For example only: ASME B31.3, ASME IX, ISO 9606-1, ISO 15614-1, ISO 3834-2, EN 1090, ISO 9001, and for pressure equipment the PED and the UK PESR.

Can I keep my own standards and editions in it?

Yes. The standards register holds each standard with its edition, status, review date and where your licensed copy is kept. An earlier edition stays in view without stopping any work. SkaldIQ stores the reference; your licensed copy stays where you keep it.

Does SkaldIQ tell me whether my procedures are adequate?

No. It helps you evidence control of your own quality documents: a reference, a responsible person, a revision and a next review date for each. It does not say whether a document is adequate.

Data and security

Are our records kept apart from other companies' records?

Yes. Each organisation's records are kept apart from every other's, and stored copies of standards stay private to your organisation.

What can our client see?

For a client's QA representative, SkaldIQ offers a client portal: a read-only view of their own project and nothing else.

Can an approval be changed after the fact?

Approvals leave a tamper-evident record that an auditor can verify, rather than take your word for it. A signed copy is kept as a new file, the original is not changed, and a changed copy no longer matches the check.

Verification

How does verification of a signed document work?

You sign a welder's qualification confirmation, a certificate or any other document with your signature and your organisation's stamp. SkaldIQ prints a reference, a check code and a QR code on the page. Anyone holding the page can enter the reference and check code on the Verification page and see the signer's name and position, the date and time, and the organisation. No sign-in is needed.

Does the check show the document?

No. It shows who signed and when, and the reference of the document that was signed, never the document itself. A warning appears instead if the signing has been withdrawn.

What if someone changes a signed page?

A changed copy no longer matches the check. A single signed report or certificate can also be compared with the signed original, by its fingerprint in your browser. A file you check is never uploaded or kept.

Can I check a Quality File?

Yes. Each signed page inside a Quality File carries its own QR code, which can be checked.

Which documents can be checked?

Only documents signed in SkaldIQ. The reference and check code are always printed on the page. The QR code is on every signed page where the organisation has it switched on.
